  4. How my selected brand evolved its product to understand its customers?

    Who: Bread Talk

    What:
Bread Talk was incorporated in Singapore o 6 March 2003 as an investment holding public company. The company's Chairman, Dr. George Quek, first conceptualised "BreadTalk" in April 2000 when he saw an opportunity for starting a bakery selling freshly baked breads and buns which are visually creative and attractive.

    How the Brand has evolved:
BreadTalk's first retail outlet commenced business on 1 July 2000 at Parco Bugis Junction. They opened their second retail outlet within the next five months in December 2000 at Novena Square. Their first retail outlet was situated in the HDB heartlands that was also opened in December 2000 at Junction 8 Shopping Centre. In 2001, they expanded their operations by opening another five retail outlets. When they first commenced operations, the whole baking process, from the preparation of the dough to the final topping of the bakery items, was done at each individual retail outlet. As their operations continued to grow, and in preparation for our franchising plans, they set up their central kitchen and shifted their corporate headquarters to their present premises at KA FoodLink, Kampong Ampat in September 2001. To expand their production capacity, they acquired more space, machinery and equipment in 2002. The expansion of their central kitchen was completed by November 2002. Over the last two years, BreadTalk have introduced many new varieties of breads, buns, cakes and pastries and we presently have launched more than 100 bakery items. Their specialty is their "see through" kitchen which allows customers to see their bread being made. BreadTalk also have their own "restaurant" now called 'Food Republic.' Besides food and bread, BreadTalk also expanded their Bread business. They have a small cafe called 'ToastBox' and a place where you can design your own cakes, 'Icing House'.

My brand is Levi's and its promise is far better than necessary that it has kept. It has improved its products for the customers such as creating the annual 'trade in you old jeans' event after realising that customers had old jeans that were too small jeans for them. This event allows Levi's to collect fabric and for the customers to clear space in their wardrobe, it is a win-win situation.
